Happy “Halloween day” – PLEASE BE SAFE !!!

Few tips for everyone on Halloween day
*******

When Driving on Halloween:

■ Slow down in residential neighborhoods — obey all traffic signs and signals.
■ Watch out for children walking in the road and on curbs and crossing the street. They may not be paying attention to traffic.
■ Take extra care in entering and exiting driveways and dark alleyways.
■ Look at the whole road, from front porch and yards through the roadway, so you’re aware of where the children are.

Parents:

■ Make sure an adult or older, responsible youth can supervise children under age 12.
■ Plan the route your trick-or-treaters will follow ahead of time.
■ Instruct children to only travel on well-known, familiar routes and to only stop at well-lit houses.
■ Remind children never to enter a stranger’s home or garage.
■ Establish a time for children to be home and tell children not to eat any treats until thery return home.
■ Make sure Halloween costumes are visible with reflective or bright material on it.
■ Review pedestrian and traffic safety rules with your children before they go out.

****
Trick-or-Treaters:

■ Wear costumes that don’t interfere with your vision — avoid facemasks. Make sure your costume is not too long so you don’t trip.
■ Carry a flashlight with fresh batteries in it — Never shine it in the eyes of oncoming drivers.
■ Stay on the sidewalks and avoid walking in the streets. If there are no sidewalks, walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic.
■ Look both ways and listen for traffic before crossing the street. Be sure to cross only at the corner and never cross between parked cars.
■ Tell your parents where you are going.
■ Trick-or-treat in a group — don’t go alone.
